The High Desert Hunt Club at Tejon, A division of Hunt Tejon, is Southern California’s premier private Upland Bird hunting club, located one hour north of Los Angeles and 45 minutes south of Bakersfield. With over 6,400 acres, 35 different hunting fields with varying terrains and challenges, you will not only enjoy great bird hunting but also get a chance to relax after a long day in the field at the historic Beale Clubhouse.

High Desert Hunt Club (HDHC) offers a variety of premier hunting experiences, including planted field hunts for Ringneck Pheasant and/or Chukar, as well as exclusive members-only Valley Quail hunts and European-style driven hunts. HDHC also accommodates private and corporate groups, providing customized field hunts and European-style driven hunt experiences tailored to each party.

Non-members are welcome to hunt at HDHC on a limited-capacity basis, Limited field selections. While members receive priority access and enhanced benefits. Membership includes access to premium fields, whole-bird processing, discounted bird pricing, and additional exclusive perks.

High Desert Hunt Club welcomes non-members to experience High Desert Hunt club. Non-members are placed in one of our three designated non-member fields, allowing guests to enjoy the quality of not only our club but our birds, guides, and well-trained bird dogs while experiencing the club’s hunting environment. Non-Member use West fields only (Westside, Big Buck and Quail Hollow) No Valley Quail hunting.

A field hunt at High Desert Hunt Club offers a classic upland bird hunting experience across the ranch’s diverse terrain and natural cover. Hunters walk the fields behind experienced guides and well-trained bird dogs as they work the ground, locate birds, and produce exciting flushes. This traditional style hunt emphasizes teamwork between hunter, guide, and dog while providing a dynamic and rewarding day in the field for shooters of all experience levels.

Per Bird:

• 10 birds minimum for initial hunter required. 5 bird minimum per additional hunter. Price does not include dog handler or lunch.

Experience the excitement and tradition of a European style driven hunt at High Desert Hunt Club. Inspired by classic driven shoots of England and continental Europe. This fast-paced format offers multiple shooting opportunities and emphasizes safe gun handling, instinctive shooting, and camaraderie among participants, creating a dynamic and memorable day in the field. HDHC Members can attend any HDHC organized European style driven hunt. Reservation is required. 20 spots max.

Valley Quail hunting at High Desert Hunt Club offers an authentic California upland experience across the ranch’s rolling hills, brushy draws, and open valleys—ideal habitat for these fast-flying game birds. Hunters work the terrain alongside experienced guides and well-trained bird dogs as coveys flush and scatter, creating exciting and challenging shooting opportunities. Known for their speed and unpredictable flight, Valley Quail provide a thrilling pursuit that rewards quick shooting, good dog work, and a love for classic upland hunting.

• All birds are breasted, vacuum sealed, and placed on ice. Pick up in front of clubhouse.

• Cross & Crescent House (Lebec, CA)
• This house has 5 queen beds, 2 twin beds, a fully equipped kitchen and all the basic amenities. Located approximately 20 minutes from HDHC.

• This house has 1 queen bed, 1 Full bed, 4 twin beds, a fully equipped kitchen and all the basic amenities. Located approximately 20 minutes from HDHC.

• Crane Canyon Campground
• A members-only campground for RV’s and trailers. Limited water hookups available. All sites are based on a first come, first served basis. Located right off the I-5 and Lebec Exit 210. Approximately 20 minutes from HDHC.

Special Notes/Cancellation Policy:
–Membership does not include birds.
-Bird processing included with all hunts.
-All memberships allow an unlimited number of guests per season. Same guest may only
accompany member 3 times per season.
-Cancellations made within 72 hours of scheduled hunt will be assessed the full cost
of hunt, including dog handler fee, if applicable.

A valid California hunting license, upland game bird verification and reservations are required.
